SAET adopts Supreme Court Gen AI guidelines
26 June 2026
In January 2026 the Supreme Court of South Australia issued Guidelines concerning the use of Generative artificial intelligence in proceedings in the Supreme Court, District Court, Youth Courts, Environment, Resources and Development Court and Court of Disputed Returns. The Guidelines recognise the benefits and challenges of using Gen AI.
Following consultation with internal and external stakeholders, and pursuant to paragraph 2 of the Guidelines, the President has decided to adopt those Guidelines to apply to proceedings in the South Australian Employment Tribunal. This provides a consistent approach for representatives and parties about the use of Gen AI in SAET cases. The Supreme Court has also prepared an Information Sheet for self-represented litigants about the use of Gen AI, which will also be adopted. Given that Gen AI is developing rapidly, SAET will review its application of the Guidelines regularly.
